Anastasiya Tonkova was born on December 16, 1983 in Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria.

In 2006 she graduated in Fine Arts – Mural painting and Art education at the Faculty of Fine Arts Veliko Tarnovo University "St. Cyril and St. Methodius".

In the period 2006-2008, with the support of the DAAD-Arts Scholarship, she continued her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany, where she specialized in the field of Art therapy.

Since 2012 she is a lecturer at the Department of Mural painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Veliko Tarnovo University "St. Cyril and St. Methodius".

As an artist she takes part in various creative projects, exhibitions and symposiums in the country and abroad.

From 2012 Anastasiya Tonkova is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists (UBA), section Painting. She is a member of the Management Board of UBA - Department Veliko Tarnovo since 2013.

•2014 Honorary charter of the Old Bulgarian capital, Veliko Turnovo, for successfully accomplishing the mosaic wall panels project initiative „Learning as We Play” at the  ”Parvi Yuni / June 1st” kindergarten, Veliko Turnovo

•2014 Award of the Veliko Turnovo municipality for creative accomplishments in the exhibition Art Rozaliada – a painting feast of wine 


•May 2007  Young Talent Award from Lions Club Baden – Helenental /Austria/ from the International Biennial of Humor and Satire in Art - Gabrovo, Bulgaria
